Philosophy
Our philosophy at Vaal Dental Studio is firstly to do no harm. This means that no matter what the treatment, we will always attempt to achieve our goal by respecting existing structures and health. This ensures the least possible complications, and the best dental survival rate on the long run.
Vision
Our vision for Vaal Dental Studio is to always be relevant with new technology and techniques. This will always ensure that our patients receive the highest quality of care and strive for the maximum longevity. We aim not only to be a relevant practice in South Africa, but to hold our own even on an international level.
Mission
We do not believe in prolonging any procedure. We strive to follow a holistic approach where we focus on your physical, mental, and emotional well-being, while keeping social interactions in mind.
Dr Boela van der Merwe established a practice that specialises in Root Canal treatments in 2004.
Dr du Plessis joined him in 2006 managing general dentistry.
In 2007 they moved to 155 General Hertzog Road, Vereeniging, where the current practice is situated.
In the year 2017, Dr Christo van Rensburg joined the practice to add his expertise gained over many years.
Together they continue to operate a first class ethical dental practice.
Dr. Johan du Plessis
Dr du Plessis qualified as a dentist at the University of Pretoria in 2003. After completing his community service at Embuleni local hospital he joined private practice in Nelspruit. In 2006 he relocated to the vaal triangle and joined specialist endodontist Dr Boela van der Merwe.
In 2010 he was the only dentist in Vereeniging to employ computerised systems to manufacture porcelain crowns and veneers in office. Dr du Plessis was one of the first dentists in South Africa to attend Dr Mark Bowes’s courses on digital smile design.
Dr du Plessis has a special interest in full mouth reconstruction as well as conservative aesthetic solutions, he regularly attends courses with the best opinion leaders on the national and international circuit.
He is also currently busy with his licentiate in classical piano through trinity college London.
Dr. Christo van Rensburg
Dr Christo Janse van Rensburg obtained his BChD degree from the University of Pretoria in 1990. After which he established a private practice in Vereeniging. In 2010 he purchased a dental operating microscope and developed a special interest in root canal treatments. He attended numerous courses in endodontics , as well as personal mentorship by Dr Boela van der Merwe, whom he has joined in private practice since 2017. Dr van Rensburg also utilises lasers and their applications in root canal treatments. He has attended courses by periodontist, Dr Howard Gluckmann and aesthetic dentist Dr Mark Bowes. Dr van Rensburg is currently enrolled with the Practical orthodontic Academy of Mentorship under Dr Zieg Weber. Dr van Rensburg is an avid farmer and has a keen interest in modern approaches to especially live stock and maximizing productivity.
